Business Profile

Welcome Higher Failsworth Primary School is a Community School which serves pupils from 3 to 11 years of age. There are currently 429 pupils registered at the school (January 2014). Our purpose at Higher Failsworth Primary School is, by working with parents and the community, to create a happy and enriching learning environment for all. We hope to provide our children with a sound foundation for their future life by celebrating their achievements, fostering their self-esteem, helping them fulfil their potential, respecting their differences and encouraging kindness, consideration and respect.

About Us We hope you find the information on our website useful. Prospective parents are always welcome to make an appointment to look around school.

This is our centenary year and there will be many exciting events during the year including an open day for past pupils and staff including a display of photographs of the school and pupils throughout the years, a Centenary Fair and a Centenary party for current pupils and parents.

Curriculum Our curriculum has always been fluid and been based on the children's interests. At the start of the school year the children share their interests and what they would like to learn about in the coming year.

A curriculum is then planned to take these interests into account as well as previous learning and the requirements of the New National Curriculum. Learning takes place in the classroom, in other areas of school, outside in the school grounds (forest area, garden and poly tunnel) and at other venues such as sports centres, galleries, museums, farms and zoos.

All children learn to recite poetry and many classes enter the Oldham Schools' Choral speaking competition. This gives them the opportunity to perform on stage at the Oldham Coliseum theatre. We have in past years won trophies and "Highly Commended" certificates at this competition.
