Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th July 2014 – Another great weekend was had at this year’s Great Eccleston Show and with the fantastic weather and the tremendous continued support of the thousands of visitors, a Great day was had by all! Over 40,000 people enjoyed the best two-day show in the North-West with something for everyone.

On the first day some of the finest dairy cattle could be seen on parade in the main ring and with the Holstein breed being the most prominent in the area, a deserved winner was a local family, P, J A & M Isles from Greenhalgh, Kirkham. On talking to Matthew Isles on his win he said “I’ve been showing here for 13 years and I’ve finally done it”, a great example of the support the show receives from local farmers and the standard of the breed on display, which was reputed to be the best showing of dairy cattle at the show for 15 years. Other fine examples of dairy cattle like Jersey’s and Ayrshires were also on display. Commentator Mike Keeble kept the watching crowds interest as he explained the breeds being displayed before them and the importance of farming to our area, not least the country.
