Business Profile

About Us... Vintage Worx CDT set up in 2006 in response to the escalating levels of poverty, crime and deprivation in what has become England's poorest community. The spiralling decline of the area's housing estate, coupled with the lack of frontline services within the area, led a small band of local women to come together in search of a local solution. After consulting with local people the group was established, they leased a small building from RMBC in Falinge Park and began delivering direct support to the community. By 2007 the group were delivering an array of projects to wide range of local residents aimed at decreasing unemployment and increasing skill levels and were presented with the "Continuing Community Services award from Rochdale MBC.

2008 saw the group register as a Social Enterprise limited by guarantee and become an emerging development trust under the guidance of the Development Trust Association

With demand exceeding the capacity of their premises, the group secured a 5 year lease on larger albeit dilapidated premises in 2009

With only a £57,000 budget over 50 local residents came together to help renovate the building with local businesses donating equipment, labour and expertise. The renovation became one of the biggest community projects in the area attracting a visit from Government minister Jim Knight.

The renovation was completed in 11 months through one of the worst winters on record and in June 2010 local councillors opened the doors to the new Falinge Community Hub
